1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons baking cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 3/4 cups hot water
Grease an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking pan. Preheat oven to 350ยบ. Sift together first 5 ingredients into mixing bowl. Add milk, oil, and vanilla, stir til smooth. Stir in nuts if desired. Pour batter into baking pan. Combine brown sugar and baking cocoa until well mixed. Add hot water and stir until sugar is dissolved. Place pan on rack of hot oven and gently pour liquid mixture over batter. Bake about 40 minutes. Serve warm, topped with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Makes
