SHIPWRECK STEW

1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
3 cups peeled cubed potatoes
3 medium carrots, sliced
1 cup sliced celery
1 can sliced green beans, drained
1 can kidney beans, drained
8 oz tomato sauce
1/4 cup uncooked rice
1/2 - 1 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup water

Brown hamburger with onion. Combine all ingredients in 3 qt casserole. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 - 1 1/2 hours until rice and veggies are tender.

To cook in the crockpot, after browning ground beef and onions, combine all ingredients in crockpot and cook until potatoes are tender; on low for 5 - 6 hours or high for 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours.

Meatless version: Substitute one can of kidney beans for the cooked ground beef.
