3 medium Macintosh apples, peeled, cored and diced
2 Tablespoons salted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 to 4 Tablespoons water
Melt butter in medium skillet over medium heat. Add the apples and sugar. Stir to combine. Sprinkle the cinnamon over apples and stir. Cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Add the water - two Tbsps for thicker sauce, 4 Tbsps for thinner sauce. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and light brown in color, about 5 to 10 minutes. Makes about 1 cup of filling.
