CALZONE DOUGH/PIZZA CRUST

This recipe makes enough dough for one large calzone.  Double the recipe for pizza crust or quadruple the recipe for 2 large pizza's.

1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon basil
3/4 teaspoon oregano
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
6 Tablespoons very warm water
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil

spaghetti or pizza sauce
desired meats, vegetables and cheese for fillings/toppings
cornmeal

1.  Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl.
2.  Add the water and oil.  Stir to combine.
3.  Put dough on floured surface and knead until smooth.  Form into a ball.
4.  Place mixing bowl upside down over dough ball and let dough rest for 15 minutes.

For CALZONE:
Preheat oven to 425º.  Prepare cookie sheet or pizza pan by spraying with nonstick spray and sprinkling with cornmeal.  On floured surface, roll dough out into a circle (approx 10" diameter).  Leaving a 1" border, cover one half of circle with spaghetti sauce and your desired meat or vegetable fillings.  Sprinkle with cheese.  Fold over and seal edges by pressing together with your fingers or a fork.  Poke top with a fork 2 or 3 times.  Sprinkle cheese on top of calzone.  Carefully transfer calzone to prepared baking sheet.  Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until nicely browned.  Remove from oven and let cool for 5 - 10 minutes before serving.
