FRUIT BARS

I love these fruit bars, especially made with cherry pie filling. I have two different friends that I always think of  when I make these bars - Holly Allred who gave me this recipe and Jerianna Keeley who made the cherry version for many ward activities or gatherings.

1 3/4 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 can pie filling
Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
1 to 2 Tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Cream together the sugar butter and vanilla. Beat in the eggs. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Spread 2/3 of the batter onto a greased cookie sheet. Spread pie filling on top then drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top and swirl together.  Bake at 350° for 30-40 minutes. Let cool and glaze.
